About Gerri
BIO
Gerri grew up in the rural South, received an undergraduate degree from Florida State University, and completed a Master’s of Social Work degree at the University of Maryland. During her forty years of social work practice, she worked with children and families in a variety of settings. Little did she realize through all those decades of writing evaluations, social histories, and investigative reports that she’d write creative nonfiction books after she retired.
Joining Toastmasters International in 2009, Gerri has grown into an enthusiastic, high-energy speaker who has competed on club, area, division, and district-level stages in Humorous Speech, International Speech, and Evaluation contests. She appeared on the stage at the Florida Storytelling Festival in March 2017. She now speaks to groups about writing and RV travel.
Gerri’s stories reveal her struggles with retirement, aging, and an ever-changing world. While not an easy battle, Gerri’s search for the courage to change will inspire readers to follow their own dreams, whether it involves RVing or some other lifestyle change.
